5 New Year’s Eve Party Activities for Kids

If you are a parent of young children, you are already trying to decide if you are going to party with or without your children, when bringing in the New Year. Now, if you are anything like me, you already feel the guilt of leaving your children with someone else at this momentous time. I mean, welcoming in a New Year without the joys of seeing your children destroying your home, acting delirious because they are sleepy but need to stay awake, or the best one yet bouncing off the walls because they have had too much sugar so late…

15 Ways to put the fun back into painting

In my household we love to paint.  During the winter and spring months we do most of our painting projects, because these are the times when the weather does not allow for outdoor fun.  After so many months of painting, we had to think of different tools around the house to use to put the excitement back into painting. Painting with brushes of course – small brushes, big brushes, paint rollers, and brushes with different textures. Painting with kitchen utensils – Grab some spoons, forks, sporks, and serving utensils. Spatulas, whisk, and mashers are also fun kitchen utensils to paint…

Wait, why are you wearing green?

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and everyone around me is celebrating in some way.  We, in this household acknowledge this day, but we don’t really celebrate the holiday. We will eat corn beef and cabbage tonight for dinner. We do wear green to school and work. Oh yeah,  I also made up some fun activities for us to do today. Take a look! I take a piece of cardboard (This is the back of a cereal box) some green paint and a paint brush and let the kiddos free paint.  I prefer the free painting to giving them a template…

Art Party Day

I know I know I mentioned this Art Party weeks ago.  Well I have been in vacation mode with the holidays all around me.  But you must give me credit because I have made the effort to get the pictures out before the New Year. Well here goes. We had an Art Party a few weeks back.  I saw this idea on Pinterest (Don’t you just love Pinterest?).  Anyway we are an Arts-n-Crafts household so I decided to invite my children’s friends over and have a fun Art Day.  I do apologize for the dark pictures, the lighting in my…

I’m Thankful for…

Ok I don’t know if I mentioned this already, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Usually I have my children put on a Thanksgiving play or perform a song with their instruments, but this year with the training and all I did not have time to “direct” a performance. My family members were very surprised! They have become accustomed to their own private show on Thanksgiving. So instead we made the centerpieces. Now I am not the best cook in my family so that is why I prefer to do crafty or creative things and so that’s what I did….

Pumpkins Everywhere day 2

Today was a great day playing with pumpkins and all. I would like to apologize for the pictures in advance. My camera lens needs to be replaced and the lighting was not working for me today. We invited a friend on our morning walk to collect items for our sensory bucket.                         We found some colorful leaves (yellow, red, orange, and brown), pine cones, sticks, pine needles, and I added small pumpkins and gourds.                       We played with the…
