Ok I don’t know if I mentioned this already, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Usually I have my children put on a Thanksgiving play or perform a song with their instruments, but this year with the training and all I did not have time to “direct” a performance. My family members were very surprised! They have become accustomed to their own private show on Thanksgiving. So instead we made the centerpieces.
Now I am not the best cook in my family so that is why I prefer to do crafty or creative things and so that’s what I did.
This is what we had to work with, for creating one of the centerpieces. I had each one of my children trace their hands and then write what they were thankful for on each finger. The results were very cute. The family loved it!
We also made the infamous cornucopia. We found fruit and nuts to fill it with. Check out our table.
The colorful leaves came from the dollar store. I love to pull them out for fall dinners.
Now I also provided a thankful tree. We took some branches and created a tree on a foam board. We cut out leaves and had all family members write what they were thankful for on the leaves, and then tape them from the branch. It was a hit!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Just a tip, you don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to let people know how thankful you are to have them in your life. Give thanks whenever your feeling thankful.
OMG! I almost forgot. I did attempt to make one thing, and that was a Vanilla Bean Rum Cake. I found the recipe in the Better Homes and Garden supplement book. Everyone loved it, well the adults I should say loved it. My first attempt at a homemade cake take a look my friends.
